Business analysis is a research discipline of identifying business needs and determining solutions to business problems.
Solutions often include a software-systems development component, but may also consist of process improvement, organizational change or strategic planning and policy development. The person who carries out this task is called a business analyst or BA.

Although there are different role definitions, depending upon the organization, there does seem to be an area of common ground where most business analysts work. The responsibilities appear to be:
To investigate business systems, taking a holistic view of the situation. This may include examining elements of the organisation structures and staff development issues as well as current processes and IT systems.
To evaluate actions to improve the operation of a business system. Again, this may require an examination of organisational structure and staff development needs, to ensure that they are in line with any proposed process redesign and IT system development.
To document the business requirements for the IT system support using appropriate documentation standards.

business analysts is nothing but analysis of the need of some particular organisation or an individual and deliver them with proper solution or resolution so as to meet their demands. Generally, the term business analysis is associated with the software related demands or needs. Which means that the present scenario where big companies take up the project for clients have to do a thorough analysis before they can start up with their work of providing resolution. And the people who do this are called business analyst.
Well there must be a question arising as why is there a need to do business analysis? Well to answer that we can take up a small example where suppose an individual has to start an E-commerce industry, where the person has no idea of how computers and website works. Such instance can happen when a person is just business mined and can invest money but is zero in terms of coding and does not have knowledge of the whereabouts of the IT facilities which can make his work easier. Hence the person comes up with the idea and wants to expand business globally through websites and applications for selling his products. Thus the person will contact a company and put forward his needs and explain his requirements. A business analyst from each side will meet up and the entrepreneur will explain his thoughts and suggest the company’s business analyst about his idea and how he/she wants his/her website or the application to look and work.
Thus the main fundamental work which are done in business analysis is analysing the entire process of the client and providing them with the resolution taking care of all the hardware and software process which has to be provided to the client.
As we all know that there are mainly two types of companies’ product based and service based. Hence in product based companies’ business analysis works as in developing or making a product within a company for the consumers. Which means that companies like Microsoft which are purely product based, require to develop a new software for which business analyst of the organisation will take care of the software which hast to be developed by understanding the requirement of the application in market and then analysing accordingly. Here business analysis means taking complete care of the application from the beginning of its development till the completion of the project, which includes market research, need of the software, security, privacy, etc. point to be noted here is that analyst does not provide complete technical things about the software but semi technical or just the idea of what all things should be kept in mind while developing such a product. In shot we can say that it just provides the idea of how the software has to be made.
On the other hand the role of the business analysis department in service based company is taking care of the projects undertaken by client companies, which includes the undertaking of the projects from the client companies and updating the client about the progress of their product and delivering the product on the given time. Here the projects which are undertaken has to be analysed before and then when client gets satisfied with the dunce then the work starts of development.

there are the several technique that BA used for analyzing business activities and find out the best suitable solution for the clients.
these technique are discuss below:

SWOT ANALYSIS= it is a framework used to measure what an organiasation can do and cant do,what are the potential oppurtuanity and thearts for the company.
it is a basic analysis. company should be realistic about his the good and bad point. it should be very simple in nature.
STRENGTH(good product, good customer base, unique technology, good brand value etc.)
WEAKNESS(high debt,bad supply chain,lack of capital etc)
OPPURRTUANITY(manufacturing,exporting,increasing sales etc.)
THEARTS(highcost, labour,leagal,political etc.)

a company success is highly depned on the SWOT analysis.by using this technique ,it is very easy to identify comapany good and bad point and work on that.
a BA can suggest how an organiasation can achieve desire goal by adding, deducting or bypassing some process.

GAP ANALYSIS= as the name suggest it deals with gap. that means how to cover the difference from that current state of enviroment to the future state.more
preciously we can say its a requirment mesurement tool.weather the business requirement is met or not.
if it is not met ,find out the reason? and prepare a plan how to met that requirement?
gap analysis is one of the best practice followed by any organization.it help to idetify some question like-
how much time to invest?

it help to determine success of a paticular project.

ROOTCAUSE ANALYSIS= it mainly deals with a problem. occurance of same event orver a period of time called problem. the main purpose of this model is to find
root of the problem and removing the problem form the root. for that BA used some technique that are discussed below
5WHY(main purpose of this technique is to ask question)
TABULAR METHOD(crate checklist or table so when problem arrise it is easy to find out deviation areas)
FISHBONE (it deals with causes and possible outcomes)
CAUSE AND EFFECT(same as fishbone)

DECISSION ANALYSIS= it is a technique of making decission during uncertain and comlex time. the main purpose of this model is to aviod unknow factor that
may affect the project. BA consiouly do this excercise keeping in mind business requirement, stake holder requirement etc.factor affecting decission canbe
devided in to 2 categories- financial factor and non financial factor.

STRATEGY ANALYSIS= strategy shows the path. how an organization can achieve short term and long term objective using some strategies? it deals with goal and vision
enviroment, resources involved.strategy analysis affecting factor are- external and internal environment.
EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT= PESTLE TECHNIQUE(POLITTICAL,ECONOMICAL,SCOCIOLOGICAL,TECHNOLOGICAL,LEGAL,ENVIROMENTAL),PORTER FIVE FORCE MODEL(CUSTOMER,SUPLIER,COMPETIOR)
INTERNAL ENVIRONMENT= MOST TECHNIQUE(MISSION,OBJECTIVE,STRATEGY,TACTICS).

based on the above analysis BA will prepare business architecture frame work, business plan, business communication schedul, technique use for tool, documentation,
and stkaeholder analysis, performance monitoring and handel change request. according to that BA suggest the suitable paln for the clients .

Business analysis projects all follow the same basic life cycle. A project is a set of steps that accomplish something, so describing business analysis activities as part of a project life cycle makes sense. Although each project you undertake is different, and you must always remain fluid and flexible to some degree, business analysis tasks follow a general order
?   Plan the project:
Create a work plan and at least think through an approach for the analysis effort.

?   Scope the project:
Define and document the project boundaries and analyze the business problem without deciding on a solution. This job includes clearly identifying the opportunity or problem the company needs to address.

?   Elicit, analyze, and communicate requirements:
This task is the lion?s share of what business analysis professionals do at the project level. Understand the real business needs and find the root cause of business problems, and communicate requirements to the intended audience.

?   Design the solution:
Business analysts (BAs) aren?t typically responsible for this activity; instead, they support the solution team through this effort.

?   Build or buy the solution:
The business and project team make a decision based on the results of the activities Steps 1 through 4 to buy a solution prepackaged, build one internally, or have a group outside the company build it. During this time, your role is to ensure the solution still meets the business need stated in the project objectives and the business requirements.

?   Test the solution:
As the solution is being designed and built, collaborate with the test team to validate that the solution meets the business needs elicited during the project.

?   Implement the solution:
Make sure business uses the solution. You actively work with project stakeholders as the solution rolls out. You may work as a change agent, advocating the need for change, and you may also train new users on the system.

?   Conduct post-implementation review.
After the solution has been implemented, you need to make sure it?s meeting the goals outlined in the project. If not, this discrepancy may lead to another project to address the gap. Basically, you want to make sure the business is actually using the solution you provided.
