Business Analysis can be understood as a research discipline that helps you to find the business needs and identify solutions to business problems. These solutions may include the development of a software or system component, improvements in process, organizational changes or strategic planning and policy development. The purpose of business analysis is to identify solutions that meet the need for improvement.
The business Analysis Life Cycle includes the following processes:
Understanding the business
Identify the business needs
Define the project scope
Elicit the requirements
Analyse the requirements
Document and present requirements
Communication of the requirements
Process Modelling
Verification of the solutions meeting the requirements

Business analysis explores the desired recommendations to better or efficient delivery of project output.
It is a practice of identifying problem, studying that problem and come up with fruitful solution or acceptable solution from all stakeholders viewpoint.
Business analysis involves understanding the changing business needs, assessing those changes, documenting requirements and supporting delivery of those requirements.
Business analysis optimizes organizational performance and maintains competitive advantage.
A typical business analysis cycle consists of following areas-
1. Enterprise analysis
2. Requirements elicitation
3. Requirements analysis
4. Solution assessment and validation
5. Planning and monitoring
6. Requirements management and communication
