Scrum is a framework within which people can address complex adaptive problems, while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value.

Scrum is a lightweight framework that helps people, teams and organizations generate value through adaptive solutions for complex problems. Scrum co-creators Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland have written The Scrum Guide to explain Scrum clearly and succinctly.  This Guide contains the definition of Scrum. This definition consists of Scrum?s accountabilities, events, artifacts, and the rules that bind them together.

In a nutshell, Scrum requires a Scrum Master to foster an environment where:

1.A Product Owner orders the work for a complex problem into a Product Backlog.
2.The Scrum Team turns a selection of the work into an Increment of value during a Sprint.
3.The Scrum Team and its stakeholders inspect the results and adjust for the next Sprint.4.
4.Repeat

Scrum defines three roles: Scrum Master, Product Owner, and development team. Together all three roles make up a Scrum team.

Product Owner Role & Responsibilities
The Product Owner defines the what--as in what the product will look like and what features it should contain. The Product Owner is expected to incorporate stakeholder feedback to create the highest value product increments each and every sprint. Product Owners maintain the product backlog and ensure that everyone knows the priorities.

Product Owners perform the following activities:

Clearly express product backlog items;

Order the items in the product backlog to best achieve goals and missions;

Optimize the value of the work the development team performs;

Ensure that the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the Scrum team will work on next;

Ensure the development team understands items in the product backlog to the level needed.

Development Team Role & Responsibilities
The development team decides how to accomplish the work set forth by the Product Owner. Development teams are structured and empowered to organize and manage their own work. The resulting synergy optimizes overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Scrum Master Role & Responsibilities
The Scrum Master helps the Scrum team perform at their highest level. They also protect the team from both internal and external distractions. Scrum Masters hold the Scrum team accountable to their working agreements, Scrum values, and to the Scrum framework itself.

  Scrum is an Agile process to focus on delivering the business value in the shortest time. It is an iterative development methodology used to manage software projects. In scrum-based project , There isn?t a specific project manager, directing project tasks , The team itself is self-directed  with co-located team members relying on communication over documentation for effective project delivery.

Scrum is a subset of Agile. It is a lightweight process framework for agile development, and the most widely-used one.
?   A ?process framework? is a particular set of practices that must be followed in order for a process to be consistent with the framework.
?   ?Lightweight? means that the overhead of the process is kept as small as possible, to maximize the amount of productive time available for getting useful work done.

Scrum defines three roles: Scrum Master, Product Owner, and development team. Together all three roles make up a Scrum team.

Scrum is the most used framework in the software industry as it is easy adaptable, flexible and fast method and can deliver value to the customer/stakeholder throughout the project.
Some of the advantages of using scum methodology are as follows:
?   The scrum project is flexible to change in requirements generated by stakeholders which is least possible with other methodologies
?   Risk reduction
?   Serving high quality to the customers
?   Time to time value deliverables to the customers/stakeholders
BA plays a crucial role in the Scrum. BA understands the needs of the stakeholders and are responsible for conducting workshops and meetings. BA act as a primary contact person of the developer and help them in the development process.

Agile scrum methodology is a project management system that relies on incremental development. Each iteration consists of two- to four-week sprints, where the goal of each sprint is to build the most important features first and come out with a potentially deliverable product

Scrum is light weight can be implemented where faster delivery is required and here no documentation is required, the code itself forms as documentation.

          There are four main values of scrum

1.   Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
2.   Working software over comprehensive documentation
3.   Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
4.   Responding to change over following a plan.

Scrum is an agile development methodology used in the development of Software. Scrum is adaptable, fast, flexible and effective agile framework that is designed to deliver value to the customer throughout the development of the project. The primary objective of Scrum is to satisfy the customer?s need through an environment of transparency in communication, collective responsibility and continuous progress. The development starts from a general idea of what needs to be built, elaborating a list of characteristics ordered by priority that the owner of the product wants to obtain.

In scrum based projects there are mainly three roles: product owner, scrum master and development team. scrum doesn't need a project manager.

A Scrum team consists of three distinct roles: the Scrum master, the product owner, and development team members. While there is only one Scrum master and one product owner, there are generally several development team members.

Scrum teams are small; the Scrum Guide recommends ten or less total members to make sure communication and productivity is optimal. Let?s take a closer look at what the responsibilities are for each of these roles.

1. Scrum master

A Scrum master is the person responsible for making sure a Scrum team is operating as effectively as possible with Scrum values. This means they keep the team on track, plan and lead meetings, and work out any obstacles the team might face. Scrum masters might also work in a larger role within an organization to help it incorporate Scrum concepts into their work. Because they are both a leader and a behind-the-scenes supporter, they are often described as the ?servant leader? of the Scrum team.

Scrum can look different from organization to organization and team to team, making the specific tasks of a Scrum master varied. Broadly, however, a Scrum master might have the following responsibilities:

- Facilitate daily Scrum meetings (also called ?daily standups?)
- Lead sprint planning meetings
- Conduct ?retrospective? reviews to see what went well and what can be improved for the following sprint
- Keep a pulse on team members, through individual meetings or other means of communication
- Manage obstacles that arise for the team by communicating with stakeholders outside of the team

2. Product owner

A product owner makes sure the Scrum team is aligned with the goals of the overall product that the team is contributing to. They understand the business needs of the product, like customer expectations, and market trends. Because they have to understand how the Scrum team fits into bigger picture goals, product owners usually stay in touch with product managers and other stakeholders outside the team.

- Product owners might find themselves with the following responsibilities:
- Manage the product backlog by ordering work by priority
- Set the product vision for the team
- Communicate with external stakeholders and translate their needs to the team
- Make sure the team is focused on hitting product needs through communication and evaluating progress

3. Development team

A development team is composed of the professionals who do the hands-on work of completing the tasks in a Scrum sprint. This means development team members can be computer engineers, designers, writers, data analysts, or any other role needed to reach sprint goals. The development team doesn?t just wait for orders; they usually collaborate to map out goals and plans for achieving them.

Not all development team members will always have the same responsibilities. For example if you?re updating a website, you might have a front-end engineer, UX designer, copywriter, and marketing professional all working on the same Scrum team. The responsibilities of a development team will also depend on the end goals of the Scrum team. Broadly speaking however, you might find that a development team can be tasked with the following:

- Help in sprint planning and goal setting
- Lend expertise to program, design, or improve products
- Use data to find best practices for development
- Test products and prototypes, plus other forms of quality assurance
