What is Importance of flow chart
« on: May 19, 2016, 05:02:07 pm »
Flowcharts are the pictorial representation of program.
Flowcharts are a means to help design a program and figure
out what the program need to do how to do it before you sit
down to code.

Sometimes it's more effective to visualize something graphically that it is to describe it with words. That is the essence of what flowcharts do for you. Flowcharts explain a process clearly through symbols and text. Moreover, flowcharts give you the gist of the process flow in a single glance.

Well, Flowcharts, as its name says, describes the end to end flow of a particular activity. It is one among the many types of pictorial diagrams that represent an algorithm, workflow that show the process flow with the help of boxes of various kinds, placed in an order and connected with arrows.
This diagrammatic representation provides a solution model to a given activity that would be faster and smoother.
The purpose of  flowcharts is to effectively communicate how a process works or should work. They are visually stimulating hence, grabs quicker attention and provides a better understanding.
Understanding Key areas,Basic flows, alternate flows and ends will be quick and clear. Hence, provides efficiency and avoids wastage of time.

Flow chart is a  pictorial representation.
Gives visual Clarity.
One of the biggest benefits of a flowchart is the tool's ability to visualize multiple progresses and their sequence into a single document.
Stakeholders throughout an organization can easily understand the workflow while finding out which step is unnecessary and which progress should be improved.
Advantages Of Using FLOWCHARTS:
•   Communication: Flowcharts are better way of communicating the logic of a system to all concerned or involved.
•   Effective analysis: With the help of flowchart, problem can be analysed in more effective way therefore reducing cost and wastage of time.
•   Proper documentation: Program flowcharts serve as a good program documentation, which is needed for various purposes, making things more efficient.
•   Efficient Program Maintenance: The maintenance of operating program becomes easy with the help of flowchart. It helps the programmer to put efforts more efficiently on that part

Flowchart shows complete flow of system through symbols and diagrams. It is important, because it makes the system easy to understand for developers and all concerned people. It is easy to understand the process just by looking at it even for the laymen.

Flowchart is an important tool in the sense that it effectively communicates different steps involved in a process in a sequential way or manner.
It can be used to understand the development and improvement process.
Flowcharts are also called as process flowchart or functional flowchart or business process mapping.
Flowcharts are useful in different fields such as in Academics ( e.g., to understand a scientific process), in Marketing (e.g., to draw strategic plan for sales), in Business (e.g., to develop a business plan), in Manufacturing (e.g., to illustrate manufacturing process or Standard Operating Procedure-SOP), in Engineering (e.g., to represent system flow)

From business analysis point of view, flowchart helps in "visual representation of the sequential flow and control logic of an application or software. Flowcharts are a non-UML process modeling tool often employed by business analysts.

Flowcharts have several important benefits, including:

* Graphical format makes them easy to read and understand, even by non-technical team members.
* Allows for a team to document current processes as well as future processes.
* Can be created at varying levels of detail depending on the project phase and purpose
* Can be leveraged for other analysis techniques, such as use cases
* Allows a team to identify potential problem areas where a process is known to break and therefore may lead to process and system
   improvements
* Can serve as a valuable training and communication tool
*Can show parallel processes by function (i.e. swim lanes)
*Can be easier for novice analysts to implement in comparison with the more rigorous UML format

Each flow chart is concerned with one particular process or system. ... Flow charts are an important tool for the improvement of processes. By providing a graphical representation, they help project teams to identify the different elements of a process and understand the interrelationships among the various steps.

A flowchart is a tool for analyzing  processes, programs or systems. It has become an imperative part of developing an information system. A flowchart depicts the flow of operation through a program or process by dividing the system or process into events/activities and presenting the logical relationship between them.

Flow Chart is nothing but the pictorial representation of the flow of activities or actions in a Business Process or in a System. The flow chart is represented by different types of boxes (rectangle, oval, diamond) and connecting arrows. Flow chart tool is widely used to describe the various models, processes, flow of information in given system/programs and is acceptable world-wide, since it is easily understandable even by laymen irrespective of language boundaries.

A Flowchart is a diagram that graphically represents the structure of the system, the process flow, algorithm, or the sequence of steps and decisions to be made. For easy depiction various symbols are used (specific shapes and graphic symbols) which are linked by lines and directional arrows. The most commonly known shapes are rectangle or box, rounded box, diamond, circle.
Flowchart is a convenient way to observe the follow the process from beginning to end, it lets improve the work of process, highlight the key elements and detach not essential or even excessive steps. The Flowcharts can represent different levels of detail: High-Level Flowchart, Detailed Flowchart, and Deployment or Matrix Flowchart. They are incredibly useful for programmers when developing the programs of any complexity and on any high level language.

Hi,
One of the first things to ask when making a flowchart is, "what is its purpose?" The answer to this question will help you create the type of flowchart that best suits your needs.

Some of the common uses of flowcharts include:
•   Planning a new project
•   Documenting a process
•   Modeling a business process
•   Managing workflow
•   Auditing a process
•   Mapping computer algorithms
•   Data management
•   Chemical and process engineering
Once the use of the flowchart is known, the next step is to select the best type of diagram to represent it. This could be a basic flowchart, a swimlane flowchart, a value stream map, or any of several other types.

Flow charts are an important tool for the improvement of processes. By providing a graphical representation, they help project teams to identify the different elements of a process and understand the interrelationships among the various steps.

A flowchart is a pictorial or graphical representation of a process. Flowcharts are used in many industries including entertainment, engineering, physical sciences and computer programming. The purpose of all flowcharts is to communicate how a process works or should work without any technical or group-specific jargon.

A flowchart is a type of diagram that represents an algorithm, workflow or process, showing the steps as boxes of various kinds, and their order by connecting them with arrows. This diagrammatic representation illustrates a solution model to a given problem.
