When designing and planning a process, flowcharts can help you identify its essential steps and simultaneously offer the bigger picture of the process. It organises the tasks in chronological order and identify them by type, e.g. process, decision, data, etc

Flowcharts are used in designing and documenting simple processes or programs. Like other types of diagrams, they help visualize what is going on and thereby help understand a process, and perhaps also find less-obvious features within the process, like flaws and bottlenecks

it helps to understand the exact logical flow of functionality which helps the developer to implement the correct logic through coding at the same time it makes the key stakeholder understand the functional requirements better way

Flow charts help programmers develop the most efficient coding because they can clearly see where the data is going to end up. Flow charts help programmers figure out where a potential problem area is and helps them with debugging or cleaning up code that is not working.
The purpose of a flowchart is to document non-structured code. These days, it is never important, or even necessary, to draw a flowchart. Each flow chart is concerned with one particular process or system. Flow charts are an important tool for the improvement of processes

Lack of transparency is one of the main reasons for project failures whether it is clear domain knowledge for particular activities or irregular path which is not properly maintained from start to end.

Flowchart play an important role in project management which helps in improving the workflow efficiency and makes the project transparent. it helps in visualizing all types of processes and workflows in a project.

By using a flowchart to visually document the project, we can:
1)Illustrate the sequence of activities required for completing the project.
2)Highlight possible work flow issues
3)Finding out the areas where efficiency, quality or performance can be improved
4)Show high volumes of information on a single screen which allows us to handle large amounts of information
5)Assign different color schemes to different activities and processes thereby easing the interpretation of work.

Once the flowchart is completed, it is ready to help the project manager and team to analyze, edit, and implement specific project plans and objectives.

In other words, a flowchart is a graphical helper, designed to visualize the sequence of steps to follow during the project management process.

Flow chart: Its the pictorial representation of the process. Its a visual representation of the process. It is easy to visualize the process rather than describing in words. It allows you to layout complex set of data into easier understandable format.
Uses of flow chart: Plan a project
                            Document the process flow
                            Manage workflow
                            Auditing a process
                            Mapping computer algorithms.

Flow charts are the graphical/pictorial representation of steps to be followed or will be followed during the process. It is made to understand or explain the process easily and in one glance.

Flow chart are important while designing and planning a process, it  can help you identify its essential steps and simultaneously offer the bigger picture of the process. It organises the tasks in chronological order and identify them by type.
it is the visual representation of the flow of data, or activity in the given boundary and allows us to understand in the form of diagram pictures and graph.

Flowcharts: Flow charts represent the measure of the effort or the process which is order of steps to be carried out. Flowcharts display the actions, conclusion points, forking loops, similar paths, contributions, yields? It uses a exemplary called SIPOC, Supplier-Input-Process-Output-Customer, or the COPIS, Customer-Output-Process-Input-Supplier, exemplary. For instance, in the car manufacturing industry, the supplier delivers the raw materials as the input, the process manufactures the car which is the output and is used by the customer. The customer delivers the response which helps in refining the procedure and in turn the raw materials superiority from the contractors. The workflow rationality and the occurrence helps in predictable financial worth for conformance and non-conformance effort to bring the wanted production which in turn aids in guessing the rate of quality.

A flowchart not only helps you visualize all types of processes and work flows in a project, but also provides a shared language that improves team orientation.

But there?s more.

By using a flowchart to visually document your project, you can:

Illustrate the sequence of activities required for its completion
Highlight possible work flow issues
Find out about areas where efficiency, quality or performance can be improved
Show high volumes of information on a single screen thus allowing you to handle large amounts of information
Assign different color schemes to different activities and processes, easing their interpretation
Also, another good news is that project management flowcharts generally are easy to create.

Just use a standardized collection of symbols and shapes to view each step of the project, then connect them with arrows indicating the direction of the work flow.

Once completed, the flowchart is ready to help the project manager and team to analyze, edit, and implement specific project plans and objectives.

In other words, a flowchart is a graphical helper, designed to visualize the sequence of steps to follow during the project management process.

With this guide running, the project team will know what comes next and the process can run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Why use a project management process flowchart?
The purpose of any flowchart is to help to visualize the required steps, which is especially useful when managing a project.

Each diagram includes actions, who is responsible for executing those actions and the inputs and outputs for each step.

Furthermore, in some cases, the flowchart may also include a record of all project documents and other materials needed to perform the actions.

L?obiettivo del diagramma di flusso ? la chiarezza e la trasparenza.

The goal of the flowchart is clarity and transparency.

The wording used must be simple and free of unnecessary or expert jargon; the steps must be clear to everyone, whatever their level of specialization and knowledge.

For the same reason, already at the beginning of the project a consistent agreement must be found on how to ?build? a flowchart: for example, a square shape always represents an action, a hexagon the end point, a diamond a decision, etc.

Shapes themselves thus provide information about the stage of the process, and a single glance can tell the reader what kind of operation is taking place at a precise point.

The same applies to colors: these can be used, for example, to determine resources.

Whatever encoding is agreed upon, it will also be necessary to add a legend to the flowchart to identify the meaning of each shape and color, so as to avoid any kind of misunderstanding.

Once the flowchart has mapped the steps in each phase of the project and assigned ownership of responsibilities, everyone can fully understand their role and how they contribute to the whole.

One reason for the popularity of flowcharts is that they make it easier for users to communicate how they plan to implement business requirements for a new process or application. They also help you analyze a process from start to finish. That way, you can help ensure you don?t forget to account for steps covering critical inputs, outputs, and procedures.

Flow charts are pictorial representations of a Program/Software.
It is used by professionals in various fields as it helps to visualize the process.
It is used to depict both Simple as well as Complex statements into a Chart as it divides the process for easier understanding.
Flow charts can be used in any field to understand the process.

A data flow diagram describes how information is shared (routed) through the various elements of your system. IT provides you with information as to the various types for objects these elements will send and/or receive as the system is running. This will result, at design time, in decisions on the communication mechanisms, interfaces, operations, etc. In UML, data flows can be represented as parts of sequence diagrams or activity diagrams.
