. Microsoft Visio is mainly used for creating the UML diagrams such as the state diagrams, activity diagrams, etc.
2. Axure can be used for prototyping - give navitgation
3. Balsamiq is mainly used for creating the wireframes.- looks like
4. For documenting these models one can use Microsoft Excel.
5. Google docs can be used to collaborate the documents and models.
6. Microsoft powerpoint can be used for creating various slides as per the requirements.

Mark - these tools also depend on  company to company

SDLC methodologies and models
« Reply #16 on: April 03, 2018, 12:21:12 PM »
Here we discuss on the topics of Software development life cycle(SDLC)
METHODOLOGIES     MODELS
Sequential               Waterfall
Iterative                  Rational unified process
Evolutionary            Spiral
Agile                       Scrum

SEQUENTIAL-WATERFALL:- Waterfall model is Very simple and easy to understand and use it is also referred as a linear sequential life cycle. It is suitable for shot term projects maximum of 1 year projects. In waterfall model until one phase of the project is entirely complete we can not start another one. once a single phase is fully complete they examine is the part is correct or need any other changes if no changes needed then we can process further.

ITERATIVE-RATIONAL UNIFIED PROCESS:-It is mainly focused on the main building blocks or content elements, describing what is to be produced , the necessary skills required to achieve a specific goals.
In iterative methodologies we use 6 ENGINEERING DISCIPLINES(Business modelling, requirements, analysis and design, implementation, test, deployment)AND 3 SUPPORTING DISCIPLINES (Configuration&change request, project management, and deployment)which are having there impact on the Different phased of project life cycle as INCEPTION, ELABORATION, CONSTRUCTION AND TRANSITIONS

EVOLUTIONARY-SPIRAL:-In evolutionary Methodologies we first prepare a prototyping of the project and then start working on it and it is one of the costly method for preparing project because it takes a lot of paper work as well.It suits for the scientific project much more. They design prototype and then come to implement part of the project. It is more preferred for long duration projects.

AGILE-SCRUM:-Agile is one of the Modern Method of the methodologies used in nowadays. In Scrum we prepare a syntax according to clients requirements and the collections of all the EPIC we continue a Backlog.By using syntax like AS A_,I WANT_,SO THAT_. and GIVEN_,WHEN_,THEN_. we create user stories where collection of all user stories wee prepare PRODUCT BACKLOG, out of them we take some selected user stories and prepare SPRINT BACKLOG, then out of them we pick selected user stories and prepare RELEASE BACKLOG.

this are the main SDLC we come to know and every company have the method according to there project.

Rather than list tools, which vary with companies and sometimes teams, let me list the tool categories that are typically used by BAs:

Documentation: MS Word. Knowing how to use Word is not an end in itself but a means to various ends; what really matters is to put Word to effective use for the unique, specific purposes of your project.
Presentation: MS Powerpoint. Similar rules as above.
Data Analysis: MS Excel, SQL querying.
Modeling, Flowcharts: MS Visio, eDraw.
Wireframing, Mockups: Pencil, Balsamiq, MS Visio.
Communication, Collaboration: A good understanding of how to “effectively” use email, chat, phone, audio and video conferencing, web meeting, shared network/cloud storage systems, SVN.
